Unirack Two Tier Shelving Structure

T2 Storage Solutions were approached by a national school uniform distributor who needed more shelf and garment hanging space in their central warehouse in Mansfield to store their extensive clothing ranges and for a better storage solution in general allowing them to maximise on their buildings cubic capacity. This rapidly growing company have been growing exponentially and required a cost effective and space efficient shelving solution to their increasing stock levels.

T2 Storage Solutions were delighted & excited to be given the opportunity to tender for these works and promptly arranged to visit site to conduct our free of charge site survey whilst offering some professional design considerations to ensure the new 2 tier shelving structure supplied by the manufacturer Metalsistems (based in Italy) would provide the ultimate warehouse shelving solution.

Finalising the Spec

Final Specification was to supply, design & install a Unirack Two Tier Shelving Structure with a finished floor level (for the walkways) of 2720mm with a total shelf bay capacity of 4200kg UDL (Uniformed Distributed Loaded) allowing 2 tier unirack shelving to be installed both at ground and first floor levels that is also specially designed to support the first floor aisle walkways. These walkways were designed to carry aUDL of 300kgs/m² (3kN/m²).

Ground floor shelving was divided into 47 bays for hanging garment storage and a further 42 bays were for general shelf storage – mainly storing packed clothing and the like.

First Floor shelving was supplied with 37 bays for hanging garment storage with an additional 57 bays of general shelf storage for packed clothing.

Within the structure we installed 2No. straight flight, bespoke fabricated steel staircases (sprayed yellow) to ensure our design fully complied with means of escape regulations.

Aisles were created using special interlocking steel planks that were supported using the manufacturers bespoke support brackets before overlaying the steel panels with a MDF deck to ensure the clients trollies would wheel freely.

Project was completed slightly ahead of schedule with minimal disruption leaving one very happy client.
